Zambabem is a Brazilian group playing a range of old and new Popular Brazilian Music (MPB) from their homeland, mixing up everything from samba to ska, in a typical modern band set up – electric guitar, vocals, acoustic guitar, drum set, trombone and sizzling Brazilian percussion.
The band specializes in a style of music known as ‘samba rock’ – a mixture of samba (the traditional rhythm) and American 50’s surf swing/rockabilly music, that shakes the dance-floors of Sao Paulo’s downtown gafieira dance halls (made known worldwide by artists like Jorge Ben Jr, Tim Maia, Os Mutantes, Seu Jorge, Bebeto etc).
The band also includes other grooves such as samba de gafieira, bossanova, funk, soul & reggae for the essential good times soundtrack to the beach set that Brazilians know how to do!
