Celebrating ten years of recreating their favourite albums live on stage, The Honey Sliders return to Brisbane’s premiere music venue, Felons Barrel Hall, on Sunday 11th December. This latest instalment sees The Honey Sliders pay homage to Neil Young’s classic 1969 album ‘Everybody Knows This is Nowhere’.
‘Everybody Knows This is Nowhere’, was Neil Young’s sophomore album as a solo artist and the first alongside his lifelong collaborators Crazy Horse. The album cemented Neil Young’s famous guitar tone and freeform extended jam sensibilities on the timeless tracks ‘Down By the River’, and ‘Cowgirl in the Sand’. The album also features Neil’s signature mix of country, roots, and rock with ‘Cinnamon Girl’, ‘Round and Round’, and the title track ‘Everybody Knows This is Nowhere’. The album has since become a multi platinum selling hit across the world and is considered by many to Neil Young’s finest album. Following this first set recreating ‘Everybody Knows This is Nowhere’, The Honey Sliders will perform an hour long set of Neil Young tracks as a sort of mix tape of their favourite tunes.
The Honey Sliders recently sold out two shows at Felons Barrel Hall, performing their rendition of The Beatles’ iconic Rooftop Concert, plus a second set of Beatles’ Hits and Rarities. This follows what has become a tradition for music fans in Sth East Qld, with The Honey Sliders bringing their favourite albums back to life every year for the last ten years, with great skill and respect. The Honey Sliders have brought back to life The Rolling Stones’ ‘Sticky Fingers’ and ‘Let it Bleed’, Hendrix’s ‘Axis: Bold as Love’, The Beatles’ ‘Abbey Road’, Neil Young’s ‘On the Beach’, The Band’s farewell concert ‘The Last Waltz’, The ‘Easy Rider’ Soundtrack, and Cream’s ‘Disraeli Gears’.
Featuring 3 x ARIA Award nominated singer, guitarist and song writer Danny Widdicombe (The Wilson Pickers, Bernard Fanning, Tim Rogers), The Honey Sliders are made up of some of Australia’s finest musicians – Dan Mansfield on keys, guitar and backing vocals (You Am I, The Gin Club), Bos Borley on bass (The Resin Dogs, Bernard Fanning), and Ben Carstens on drums and backing vocals (Mexico City).
