Howard Smith Wharves becomes an award-winning destination

We’re thrilled to announce that Howard Smith Wharves has recently been recognised with a slew of awards, all of which we are humbled to receive after only a year of opening. As a brand new lifestyle and entertainment precinct these awards strengthen HSW’s identity as a Brisbane destination not to be missed.

The precinct received the 2019 Urban Developer Retail Development of the Year Award (nominated by Howard Smith Wharves, Urbis and BCC), which recognises excellence in the development of retail projects, at the Urban Developer 2019 Awards for Industry Excellence, which had over 500 industry guests in attendance. Also shortlisted for Best New Communal Space and Development of the Year – Urban Regeneration, the award for Retail Development of the Year cements Howard Smith Wharves as a ‘must-visit’ restaurant and dining precinct.

Howard Smith Wharves Director and Founder, Adam Flaskas, said, “We’re delighted to be recognised as the 2019 Urban Developer Retail Development of the Year. We only launched late last year, but the response we’ve received from both the local Brisbane community and visitors has been outstanding. We take a lot of pride in what we do, so it’s an honour to receive this award.”

Of his award, David said, “I’m lucky to have the opportunity to train and mentor some of the best chefs in Australia in my role, which I find very rewarding, so I was humbled to be named Chef of the Year.”

Following the initial achievement of Heritage Hero Status by the National Trust – Howard Smith Wharves was also awarded Silver in the Adaptive Re-use Category at the 2019 National Trust Queensland Heritage Awards.  We are proud of this award which is testament to our heritage preservation and commitment to opening up previously dormant artefacts so they can be enjoyed and appreciated by the whole community.

Howard Smith Wharves has launched numerous venues over the past year, including restaurants, bars and a brewery, with more openings slated for the coming months.
