Lovers of our Italian pop-up Ciao Papi will be thrilled to hear the restaurant is here to stay!
Much-loved as a pop-up, by popular demand Ciao Papi has now relaunched as a permanent fixture, open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, with its own Head Chef, a new menu and amazing river views from its waterfront location.

Located at the New Farm end of the precinct, Ciao Papi offers a range of Italian dishes served up by Head Chef Giacomo Favotto, who has previously held roles at Michelin starred restaurants including Le Gavroche in London, L’Andana in Italy and Ryu Gin Restaurant in Tokyo along with roles at the hatted Sydney institution Rockpool, and the Hilton Hotel in Brisbane.

Of his new role, Giacomo said, “I’m excited to bring Ciao Papi into its next chapter at Howard Smith Wharves. Italian cuisine is one of my favourites to prepare, and I love how it brings everyone together. The new menu will feature some classic Italian dishes, along with a few that have a more modern twist.”

“I’ll be keeping it simple and relaxed at Ciao Papi, as I believe some of the best food you can eat is also the simplest,” continued Giacomo.

On Ciao Papi’s new menu, guests will find traditional Italian dishes such as rigatoni with slow braised pork ragu and tiramisu paired with

Giacomo’s other offerings including grilled lamb cutlets with salsa verde, grilled whole john dory with lemon and olive oil and radicchio with gouda, shallots and goats curd. For dessert, guests can choose from orange and Campari granita or fresh figs, honeycomb and Maleny dairy cream.

“We always knew Italian cuisine would be popular with visitors to Howard Smith Wharves, but we were delighted by the positive response Ciao Papi has received during its time as a pop-up,” said David Finlayson, Director of Culinary at Howard Smith Wharves.

“Given Ciao Papi’s popularity and success, it made sense for the restaurant to become a permanent fixture at Howard Smith Wharves. With Giacomo at the helm, guests can expect delicious authentic Italian dishes at Ciao Papi,” continued David.

The restaurant will be open throughout the festive season with the exception of Christmas day, and will also be hosting a La Famiglia Communal Feast to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Tickets are available now through Ciao Papi’s website HERE.
