ARC Dining and Wine Bar – Now Open!
Howard Smith Wharves best kept secret is now open and awaiting your discovery.
We’re delighted to announce that our new restaurant, ARC Dining and Wine Bar, is now open. With Alanna Sapwell as Head Chef, a 400-plus strong wine list curated by award-winning Group Sommelier, Ian Trinkle, and interiors by acclaimed interior designer Anna Spiro, ARC Dining and Wine Bar is another must-visit venue at Brisbane’s thriving Howard Smith Wharves.
Where is ARC Dining and Wine Bar? We might hear you say… ARC Dining and Wine Bar is located at the New Farm end of the precinct, hidden just around the corner of the Rivershed.
Set on the edge of the Brisbane River with stunning views of Brisbane City, this modern glasshouse structure allows diners to feel as if they are floating on the Brisbane River as they take in stunning views of the city and the cliffs behind the restaurant.
What to expect?
Head Chef Alanna Sapwell’s philosophy is centred around sourcing produce from our local suppliers and farmers, respecting their products and making a conscious effort to use as much as possible to minimise waste.
“At ARC our aim is to provide food that people feel great about. We feel really strongly about our use of ethically raised and sourced produce. We want the diners at ARC to have an elevated dining experience while still making it fun, approachable, fresh and satisfying,” said Alanna.
“ARC Wine Bar is working hand in hand to deliver the same experience as the restaurant. We take pride in showcasing our values in snack form at the bar while being able to enjoy our extensive wine list that captures a minimal intervention approach all while taking in the stunning views of Brisbane,” she continued.
Alanna’s sustainable recipes feature on the wine bar menu as re-imagined small dishes. Think charcuterie with, pork and spent mandarin salumi with coffee crack or vinegar and salt bush pigs ears – these unusual yet approachable snacks pair perfectly with a glass of wine or two.
But if just a taste of the experience isn’t enough, you will find your satisfaction in ARC Dining. Highlights on the ARC Dining menu include dishes such as Spanner Crab, Gala Apple and Cranberry Hibiscus, Spanish Mackerel, Zucchini, Chilli and Native Ginger and Granny Smith & Sunflower Tart with Lemon and Honey.
To complement Sapwell’s delicious dishes, Ian Trinkle, awarded the Judy Hirst Award for Best Sommelier during his time at Aria, has curated a list of over 400 wines on offer at ARC Dining and Wine Bar. The selection includes a range of eclectic and rare wines from Australia and abroad, focusing on natural, biodynamic wine, with a spotlight on artisanal producers who embrace sustainability and organically-driven practices with minimal intervention.
Inspired by art and culture, the wall at the rear of ARC Dining features modern, eclectic artwork and objects hand-picked by Anna Spiro, giving the restaurant a contemporary feel. Along with the striking art wall, diners’ eyes will also be drawn to the large fig tree, which takes centre stage inside ARC Dining, with the tip almost reaching the upholstered fresh green Anna Spiro Textiles fabric panels on the raked ceiling. While we can paint a picture, the true experience must be enjoyed to be believed.
Of the 100-seat ARC Dining and 140-seat ARC Wine Bar, Howard Smith Wharves Director, Adam Flaskas, said, “ARC Dining and Wine Bar is a really special addition to Howard Smith Wharves. The unique food and wine offerings from Alanna and Ian add something new and different to the Brisbane dining scene, and, as always, Anna Spiro has done an amazing job with the interiors.”
